Higgins Beach Cottage, Scarborough, ME Architect:  Whitten Architects This cottage is the recipient of a 2008 AIA Award for Excellence in Architecture.  The original structure consisted of a two story home with a patchwork of summer-only lower level floors and walls.  The renovation and addition upgraded the home to a four season residence.  A new third story was incorporated along with a stair and storage space.  The upper level houses a study and overflow guest space with a balcony for views of Higgins Beach.  Scarborough zoning requirements dictated design.          Additional Projects
